Leah Anaya
Leah Anaya served in the Army and as a police officer in California and Washington states. She is also the daughter of a police officer and the wife of a current police officer. They have three children.”
Anaya currently works as a staff writer at Law Enforcement Today. She is also a peer advocate and peer spousal support advocate for the Wounded Blue as well as Serve and Protect, two non-profit first-responder organizations serving police officers, their families, and police departments nationwide.
When she isn’t writing, Anaya loves to read, watch baseball and hockey, and spend time gardening and with her family on their 5 acres of land.
In her debut children’s book, Policeman Daddy, Anaya paints a memorable day-in-the-life picture from sunrise to bedtime of a police officer through his small son’s viewpoint. Young readers follow the little boy as he watches his daddy get ready to serve, goes to the police station for a visit, sits in a patrol car, and thinks about how much he misses his dad as bedtime approaches.
In Anaya’s second book, Police Officer Mommy, with its colorful illustrations and easy-to-ready text, her target audience is children from 2 to 8 years old who have a police parent or are just curious about police officers and what they do while on duty.
